Nickie’s story.....
II started horse riding at the age of 4 and my Mum to this day, still maintains that I could ride long before I could walk !! The right and wrong of this being a regular family debate! It wasn’t until I was 17 though, that I purchased my own horse and competed regularly at local shows. A move to Cheshire with my job when I was 20 saw me enter the showing world. A difficult young horse in the show ring lead me to search for a flatwork trainer and there began my passion for dressage.
In 2002 I took the difficult decision to give up my career and throw myself into learning more about dressage. Something that I have not regretted at all, even though shortly after leaving work I had a bad riding accident meaning nearly a year out of the saddle. Having gone through a difficult journey to get myself physically and mentally fit again, I feel I have a deep understanding of the highs and lows of training horses and the frustrations that this can sometimes present.
I have been training and competing at dressage for the last 13 years and at the start of 2007 began training with Carl Hester. I love training horses through the levels, from Novice through to Advanced level and have many years experience in riding dressage tests.
As a trainer myself I enjoy sharing knowledge and watching horse and rider combinations grow. I believe that you can never learn enough and have a keen eye on how how to gain those extra percentages!
